QUOTE:
there are so many great guitar players out there sitting in the back yard or kitchen just playing for themselves
So true MrDando. I recall an interview I read or heard with Joe Bonamassa, where his said that there are better players than himself busking on the streets in London. And that he happened to get the breaks and have the right people around him at the right time.
Not sure there are many better than JB at the moment but it does reinforce your point.
I understand that Robert Johnson was a big influence on Eric Calpton who in turn along with SRV and Jimmy Page has influenced many of the present great guitar players.
I decided to have a go at this guitar playing after 40 years by my desire to work on something that would be fun and require a lot of hard work and dedication. Seeing Walter Trout live encouraged me to have a go and watching Joe Bonamassa play live makes my question why I bother and maybe I should burn the damn thing.
