Okay - to finalize my thoughts on Windows 7 - I have it running on both a laptop and desktop and it is hands down a winner. Its much much stronger/stable/superior in everyway to Vista and the nice thing is that everything works out of the chute.

The only problems I had were with some of my older Edirol gear - but I simply downloaded the vista drivers and manually set them up and they worked a charm.

I recommend this upgrade to anyone that is running Vista for sure - no questions.

However, I still have lots of my recording gear running on an old XP desktop. That machine is rock solid so I don't think I will upgrade the one until it dies...

Upgrade as quickly as you can. During the implementation the software will run a diagnostic on your PC to ensure that you can run Windows 7. I will also tell you what software you must delete on your machine to do the upgrade - and it will also tell you other software that MAY NOT work after the upgrade. Do yourself a favor and delete that software as well - it will give you problems during the upgrade. If you do that you won't have any problems and you will be very very very happy!

I would be interested to see how much it is over there, in the uk an upgrade costs around £59.which according to an online converter at the current rate is around 98 dollars.
