The Bio:
With five number one singles and four number one albums, the Eagles were among
the most successful recording artists of the 1970s; at the end of the 20th
century, two of those albums ranked among the ten best-selling albums ever,
according to the certifications of the Record Industry Association of America.
Though most of its members came from outside California, the group was closely
identified with a country/ folk-tinged sound of the south. There are like
100 people that play guitar in this band, so all of the notes that you hear
are very well thought out, and the entire band has a certain comradery that
is sometimes unexplainable. Don Henley has been recording solo for years,
to reasonable success, but still gets back with the band periodically.
Difficulty: Easy - Intermediate
There are 3 guitar parts in the intro, plus a basic bass line that simply drones on the G on the 3rd fret of the E string. Here's what all the parts sound like together:
Guitar 1
The first measure is pretty easy for this part. You will need to barre your 1st finger on the third frets of the "low E" string, the "A" string, the "D" string, and the "G" string. Use your 3rd and 4th fingers for the fifth frets on the "A" string and the "D" string. Play that twice to end the measure.
For the second measure, barre your 1st finger on the first fret on the "B" string and the "high E" string. Allow the "G" string to play open. Next, use your 2nd finger for the second fret on the "G" string, and your 3rd finger for the third fret on the "B" string. Allow the "D" string to remain open. Play that twice to end the measure.
To play the third measure, leave your 2nd finger where it is, and use your 1st finger for the first fret on the "B" string. Remember to play the open "D" notes. End the measure by playing the "D" string and the "G" string open.
For the fourth measure, use your 3rd and 4th fingers for the "A" string and the "D" string on the fifth frets. Play that once, and then use your 1st finger to barre the third frets on the same strings. After you have done that, simply move your 1st finger to the third fret on the "low E" string, and your 3rd and 4th fingers on the fifth frets on the "A" string and the "D" string. Play that a few times to end the measure.
Guiar 2
For the first measure, hammer-on from the sixth fret with your 1st finger to the eighth fret with your 3rd finger on the "B" string. Then, just do the same thing again, without hammering-on.
For the second measure, keep your 1st finger where it was, and use your 2nd finger to play the seventh fret on the "G" string. Repeat that four the third measure.
For the fourth measure, notice that you will need to add a little vibrato to the third fret when played. A vibrato is when you allow the string to shake as fast as you can by using your fret finger. Use your 3rd finger for the fifth fret on the "G" string, and then your 1st finger for the third fret on the same string. End the measure by either barring the fifth frets on the "A" string and the "D" string with your 3rd finger, or any finger. If you feel more comfortable to keep consistent, use your 3rd and 4th fingers on those strings.
Guitar 3
For this part, you will need to use your 2nd finger on the second fret on the "G" string, and then hammer-on to the third fret with your 3rd finger.Play that again, without the hammer-on, and this measure is finished.
For the second measure, place your 2nd finger on the second fret on the "G" string, and your 3rd finger on the third fret on the "D" string. Play accordingly.
For the third measure, you're arrangements are the same, but at the end, pull-off from the third fret on the "D" string to the open note on the same string. Do this by simply letting off of the third fret.
For the last measure, you are playing almost the same thing that you learned in the last measure of the second guitar part, but at the end, only play the fifth fret on the "A" string.
