Riff Rundown

Difficulty: Intermediate - Advanced

Do you ever use your pinky (little finger) when playing a lead piece? A lot of people don't opting to allow the stronger fingers to do all the work. You really should use your pinky, though. Use of the pinky allows wider stretches and can make far intervals easy to access. The riff from Cliffs Of Dove we'll look at requires the use of the pinky. I'm sure it's possible to play it with an alternate fingering, but humor me and include your pinky when playing it.

Below are the fingerings for the first notes. I'll leave it up to you to figure out how to finger the rest. Be sure to use the fingerings that I have provided as a starting point when deciding how to finger the rest. Maintaining consistent fingerings throughout the piece is the best way to insure that you'll be able to play it up to speed with practice.
