Riff RundownDifficulty: Intermediate This song has become quite popular, so we are showing you the intro as of now. There will be future installments, including the interlude and chorus within the next few days. This song is in drop D tuning. To tune your guitar to drop D tuning, first make sure your tuned to standard tuning. Then you'll want to tune your low E string down two steps to D (we drop it down one step, hence the name). See the picture below. You can use the audio clip below to tune your low E string to D for drop D tuning.
IntroLet's play this riff starting with your basic power chord arrangement, muting the "A" string. To perform the pull, use your 3rd finger on the fifth fret and your 2nd finger to pull with on the fourth fret. That way, you can play the fifth fret on the "D" string with no trouble by simply moving your 3rd finger to that string and fret. Also, notice that you will need to play that same fret again in the next measure, remembering to play the open note on the "A" string before it. That will also allow you to play the third fret with your 1st finger. The rest is mostly self-explanatory. |
