One of only a few bands to achieve commercial and critical success across more than two full decades, U2 has charted success on its own terms on both the artistic and business side of the music industry. From the band's earliest days in Dublin, Ireland, U2 has broken free from the traditional limitations of what a rock band -- and rock music -- could and couldn't do. By combining an original sound with honest lyrics and a challenging social message, U2 has earned the respect of their peers and critics, and an almost fanatical following of fans around the world.

Verse Riff

The first and third measures are identical, as are the second and fourth. Here you will be using basic chord formations involving Bm, D, and G6. This song is not hard to play, but is hard to get the timing down. That is what will take the most practice here.

How To Play It

Begin the first measure by placing your 3rd finger on the "G" string on the fourth fret. Place your 2nd finger on the third fret on the "B" string, and your 1st finger on the second fret on the "high E" string. Finish the measure by simply barring your 1st finger on the second frets of the same strings. As long as you left your 2nd finger there, this transition will be relatively easy.

To play the second measure, simply remove all fingers except your 2nd finger. That finger should stay on the third fret on the "B" string. Play according to the tablature.
